Friday- Enhanced digital innovation and technologies- notes:
Blackboard! We have to use the Linda videos, follow them for our blog. All the lectures are available by week on blackboard.
We have to learn coding, so I should try it a bit more. We don’t need to like it but need to understand it. Coding looks good on your CV.
Digital designers need to know about spaces as well, museums, galleries, etc. Adding an experience that goes with the space. How you can create a integrated experience, such as cinema and phone.
Physical/digital museum, waterloo uncovered!! Rewriting what we know about the battle of waterloo.
RESEARCH BATTLE OF WATERLOO!! Research the charity waterloo uncovered!
Integration between physical communicational elements, digital elements and exhibition space. Think outside the box. All the elements need to work together so that it creates an experience.
Begin the project as a team, then we will split into teams and look into each section of the project, i.e. the objects, the veterans, the maps, etc.
This module runs throughout two semesters.
Semester 1: conceptualisation. Understanding the concept and what the brief is. Understand the client. What’s the narrative? Create a story. Understanding the design context. Proposal of the design project, mock-ups, etc. Physical done in workshop, digital here.
Semester 2: Groups of 4-5 members. The project will be developed, where its functional demonstrated and professionally tested, it needs to be usable. Not just ideas, but actually works. Students will select one piece from the project then will be developed to be fully functioning.
Group (70%)
· Design document, context research, design concept and proposal, sketches, physical and digital visualisations.
· Digital presentation, Early prototypes demonstrating design concept, digital integration, communication and aesthetic proposal.
· Pitch presentation.
Individual (30%)
· Reflective design diary (blog)
· 500-word report (Has to be from the blog)
What’s the story? There’s the story of the battle. There’s the story of the veterans working there. There’s them finding the objects.
How do these connect to the people?
We have to get people’s attention, otherwise they won’t care for the cause.
We are going to be making physical mock-ups, as well as sketches. Immersive (3D) places. Working with blender & unity.
Explode the waterloo uncovered website, their YouTube. Make assumptions on their identities, values, brand history, etc. Mission, goals and main activities. How they could all reflect in an exhibition space.
Link for Padlet, and QR code! Add to the Padlet, anything, images, ideas, etc.
