Re-drawing the characters body

I knew that I wanted to re-draw the body this semester, since the initial drawing was quickly drawn and not very good. I wanted to include a musket gun some how, have him holding it, I had almost finished drawing it when I realised that I had drawn it the wrong way, so I changed the whole position that he would be standing in. Since I am not going to be animating the whole character, only his face, I decided that I could draw him in an position I wanted to.

I began by drawing the musket, I used this image as a reference.1805 'Baker' Rifle - The Battle of Waterloo - Royal Armouries ...
When I realised my mistake in drawing it I looked up images to get ideas for what I want him to look like. I liked these three. However, in the end I wanted him to be leaning on the gun, and chose his final pose.

I kinda forgot to take screenshots of the drawing process, but I think it took around 7-8 hours in total to finish. Here it is next to the initial drawing I has in the first semester.
